Omdurman - Education is a fundamental human right and essential for the exercise of all other human rights. It promotes individual freedom and empowerment and yields important development benefits. Yet millions of children and adults remain deprived of educational opportunities, especially persons with disabilities many as a result of poverty or neglect. In keeping with the persons with disabilities right to education, the Ministry of Education in collaboration with UNICEF has developed a national strategy for educating children with disabilities for 2013-2016, during which the ministry will be embarked on setting up general policies and special plans aimed at developing action plan conforming to the aforementioned national strategy for the education of children with disabilities. The new strategy is hoped to contribute to achieving the United Nations Millennium Goals, and most importantly promoting systems for educating children with disabilities nationwide.
