About Me

Eshita is working as a 'guest lecturer' at Jadavpur University and Tarakeshwar college, Hoogly, West Bengal. She has graduated in 2009 from Presidency College, Kolkata with Sociology (Hons.) and recently completed her master in Sociology with specialization in “education” from Jadavpur University. She enjoys writing and is working as a sub- editor at Santra Publication and Bichitra Publication, Kolkata. Eshita wants to be a researcher and also wishes to work for NGOs focusing on the social issues like child-education, AIDS and women empowerment.

 

Why are you interested in Right to Education?

This act has driven my attention since I was in college. I noticed that illiteracy is one of the most important reasons of prevailing exploitation and backwardness (of individual, group as well as nation).When a nation is trying to build its fortune, that would be utterly incomplete if the upcoming generations would remain speechless, unnoticed and neglected. To me, RTE would give them the chance to make their voice audible (at least). And not only that, it is the prime responsibility of the state to make sure that each and every child should get the lessons of elementary education, free of any kind of cost and unsocial indiscrimination. Apart from that, this kind of compulsory elementary education would enable the children (especially those belonging to disadvantaged and weaker section)to win over their barriers. Thus, because of very obvious reasons,primary education is my primary interest. I would like to do my PhD on this ground. These are the reasons of my interest in RTE.
